Apprenticeships & Employment

Amazing Apprenticeships Choices Magazine December 2024

Students choosing not to go onto Higher Education are supported in terms of ensuring that they are aware of the range of alternative options open to them.

Above you will find a link to 'Choices' magazine from Amazing Apprenticeships which is a fantastic parent and carer guide to apprenticeships and technical education.  They have revamped their popular Parents’ and Carers’ Pack with a fresh new look, exciting features and lots of useful content. This is updated monthly.

Students will also have the opportunity to attend our annual Careers Fair which this year was attended by over 40 local and national employers, universities and colleges and was a fantastic opportunity for students to learn more about their options both Post 16 and Post 18.   Amazing Apprenticeships hosted a talk to parents & students in our main hall, answering questions on all levels of apprenticeships from Intermediate right up to Degree level.

For National Apprenticeship Week we are busy promoting apprenticeships across the Year groups with Teachers talking about Careers & Apprenticeships relating to their individual subjects in the classroom.
and a group of Year 12's watched a live webinar on the NHS Allied Health Professions.
We also put on Satchel One an Apprenticeship Activity Pack for thise students in Years 7-9 to complete and promoted the release of the January 2024 Higher & Degree Apprenticeship listing to our Year 13 students.
We hope that these activities have highlighted the fantastic range of Apprenticeships there are out there.  If any of our students would like further information on Apprenticeships they are invited to make an appointment to see Mrs Cant, Careers Advisor.

Here is the link to a bespoke 'Introduction to Apprenticeships' video we had put together for us by Amazing Apprenticeships. This explains everything students need to know about the different levels of Apprenticeships and which sectors and industries they can take one in.  Apprenticeships are a fantastic alternative to full-time college or university courses.  Please click below to view:-

WHAT ARE TRAINEESHIPS?

Traineeships are a brilliant way to gain experience and confidence, helping you to take the next step into an apprenticeship, work or study.

A Traineeship is a fully-funded education and training programme for 16-24* year olds (*25 year olds with an Education, Health and Care Plan) to build employability skills and gain valuable sector-based experience through a work placement.  Click on the link below for more information:-

Smart Training and Recruitment

Kickstart your career with a Smart traineeship

A traineeship is an excellent way to kickstart your career. They are work-based programmes, designed to boost your knowledge, skills and experience before you take the next step into an apprenticeship or into full-time work. Traineeships can take between 6 weeks and 1 year, but most last for around 5 months.

Who can do a traineeship?

You are eligible to do a traineeship with us if you are:
  • Eligible to work in England
  • Motivated to work, but have little to no work experience
  • 16 – 18 years old or
  • 19 – 24 years old with an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).

Why consider a traineeship?

By undertaking a traineeship, you will benefit by:
  • Receiving £40 per week for expenses
  • Building your CV with valuable work experience
  • Getting to know an employer, learning about the business / industry
  • Gaining confidence and work-relevant knowledge and skills
  • Getting support with maths and English (if needed)
  • Applying for a full-time role with the employer upon completion (if one is available).

How can we help?

We are Smart Training & Recruitment, a dynamic training provider, offering progressive, virtual learning, Government funded apprenticeship and traineeship programmes throughout England.
Since we opened our doors in 2003, we’ve helped over 16,000 learners achieve their goals. But don’t just take our word for it – we’re proud to hold a 5 star rating on the Apprenticeships Directory, where you can read hundreds of great reviews about our service.
